The Method of Levels (MOL)
is a way of helping people
listen to themselves

What is MOL?

The Method of Levels (MOL) is a way of talking to people or, perhaps more accurately, a way of helping people listen to themselves. With MOL, people are encouraged to listen to those parts of themselves that they’d rather not listen to, or the parts they don’t like, or maybe are even ashamed of. People who are swallowed up by psychological distress often feel like they are arguing or fighting with themselves or being pushed and pulled in opposite directions. Perhaps they are telling themselves to do things they don’t want to do or not to do things that they would really love to do. MOL helps to stop the fight.
